Dr. George Crocker

Dr. George H. Crocker is an associate professor and the graduate program coordinator for the School of Kinesiology. He begins his first year as the Faculty Athletics Representative. In this role, he works to uphold the academic integrity of the athletics program, advocate for the well-being of our student-athletes, and ensure the quality of the student-athlete experience.
 
Dr. Crocker attended UC Santa Cruz where he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He was a 4-year member and 2-year captain of the intercollegiate swim team. During and after college, George worked as an ocean lifeguard and swim coach before completing his Master’s in Exercise Science and Doctorate in Molecular, Cellular & Integrative Physiology from UC Davis. While at UC Davis, he played many intramural sports and was a member of the triathlon team. After completing his PhD, Dr. Crocker worked as an adjunct professor at Cal State San Marcos for two years before joining Cal State LA in 2016.
 
At Cal State LA, George is a student-centered educator in exercise physiology and physical fitness assessment for the School of Kinesiology. He founded and directs the Swim Performance Lab at Cal State LA (www.swimperformancelab.com), where he researches topics relating to swimming, triathlon, and general health and fitness. Dr. Crocker is passionate about mentoring first-generation students and aiding in the success of student-athletes.
 
Dr. Crocker grew up in San Diego and where he played soccer, baseball, water polo and swam. Dr. Crocker enjoys going to the beach where he plays beach volleyball and surfs. He swims regularly with the Masters team at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center and plays tennis with friends. He lives in Pasadena with his partner, Christine.
