A former Cal State LA student-athlete who has a wealth of experience in game operations, Dameion “Lucky” Smith is the event and facilities manager for the Golden Eagles.
Smith has been involved in game operations for the Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Clippers since his graduation from Cal State LA.
For the Galaxy, he has assisted with daily game operations and provided assistance with event marketing, promotion and execution. For the Kings, he has supervised all intermission promotions, mini games and ceremonies and also supported the franchise in distributing all promotional items, giveaways and other marketing plans.
He has coordinated Jr. Clippers training camps and clinics and facilitated the implementation of the LA Clippers/NBA Got Skills Competition. He has also been a 50/50 raffle ticket seller and helped raise funds for the LA Clipper Foundation.
In addition, he spent one year working with the Chargers working on pre-game entertainment.
Smith has been a professional live entertainment host since 2010, when he hosted a Midnight Madness event at Cal State LA.
Smith also has experience with the Dedication and Determination Adult Residential Facility, where he was responsible for the care and supervision of developmentally delayed residents. He assisted individuals with their daily living as well as providing safety, support and comfort.
He has also been the Supervisor of Base 51, where he supervised food, beverage and simulator operations and managed the day-to-day financial operations of the café.
Smith has been a visible member of Cal State LA Athletics since his days as a track and field student-athlete. Smith won California Collegiate Athletic Association championships in the long jump and triple jump in 2013 and earned All-West Region honors in both events that same year. He was also the Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award winner from Cal State LA in 2013. That award honors student-athletes for their work in the classroom, in competition and in community service.
He was also the Vice-President of Cal State LA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and helped raise funds for Make-A-Wish, managed public relations and promoted positive interactions between students and athletes.
After graduation, Smith was also helpful with in-game promotions at Cal State LA where he utilized his vast entertainment skills to generate fan engagement at Golden Eagle events.
