A former professional player with an impressive coaching background, Judit Kolada joins the Cal State LA indoor and beach volleyball programs.
 
Kolada is a former pro player from Hungary, who has excelled since joining the coaching ranks. She came to the United States in 2019 and worked at the Washington Volleyball Academy as a private skills coach and led the program’s U17s girls indoor volleyball team.
 
She later moved to Southern California and was the head coach of the girls beach volleyball program at Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach in 2022.
 
Before moving to the United States, Kolada had an extensive coaching career in Hungary. She was the head coach of the beach volleyball team from the SRSE Volleyball Club in Budapest in 2019 and before that she was the head coach of the Emericus SE Volleyball Club, also in Budapest from 2017-19.
 
She started her club coaching career in 2011 when she was the head volleyball coach for the girls U13 for the MTK Sport Club in Budapest. Kolada was also the head coach for the U16 girls at Budaorsi Diaksport Club from 2013-16.
 
She was also the head coach for U21 girls for the Hungarian Physical Education University in Budapest from 2017-18 and led the team to the top six in the playoffs of the Hungarian U21 Championships.
 
Kolada also got valuable experience coaching at the Dave Rubio Summer Volleyball Camp at the University of Arizona in 2018.
 
Before beginning her coaching career, Kolada played professionally in Europe for 10 years in indoor volleyball, primarily in the Hungarian Extra League. She also spent time in the Romanian Divizia A2 league. She won the Hungarian Cup and Extraliga with Budapest SE, finished third in the Hungarian Cup and fourth in the Hungarian Championship with TFSE.
 
She also finished second with NTT Data Cluj and earned the promotion to the top division A1.
 
In beach volleyball, Kolada was on a team that took second in the Hungarian University Beach Volleyball Championships in 2016 and she represented Hungary in the European University Games in Croatia, finishing ninth overall.
 
Kolada earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education/coaching at Semmelweis University and received her Master’s degree in Sport Science/Kinesiology from the Hungarian Physical Education and Sport University.
