Leora Juster

A former two-time Kodak All-American as a player and now a successful assistant coach, Leora Juster returns for her second season with the Cal State L.A. women’s basketball program. Juster joined the Golden Eagles prior to the 2010-11 season with head coach Janell Jones.

Juster was instrumental in helping the Golden Eagles begin their rebuilding process. Cal State L.A. recorded more overall and conference wins than it had in the previous two seasons. Juster was involved in film exchange, on-the-floor coaching, strength and conditioning, scouting, recruiting, and served as camp director.

Juster got her start in coaching as a graduate assistant coach for Jones at Mercer University in the 2007-08 season. She has also been a math teacher at Howard High School in Macon, GA and most recently at Crozier Middle School in Inglewood. She was an assistant coach on Howard High School’s cross country and girls basketball teams and she was the head coach of the boys soccer team at Crozier Middle School.

As a player, Juster was a two-time NCAA Division II Kodak All-American and a two-time West Region Most Valuable Player at UC San Diego. She is one of only four players in conference history to win top California Collegiate Athletic Association honors in consecutive years and one of only five players to win two conference MVP awards.

Juster led the CCAA in scoring in the 2005-06 (22.0 points per game) and 2006-07 seasons (22.4 points per game) and helped the Tritons reach the national semi-finals as a senior in 2007. She finished her four-year UC San Diego career as the program’s leading scorer with 2,049 points and also had 397 assists.

She was the CCAA’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2007.

Juster earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics – secondary education at UC San Diego in 2007 and received her Master’s in Education Collaborative Educator at Mercer in 2009.
