Claine Plummer

    Soccer Goalkeepers Coach
A former All-California Collegiate Athletic Association player at Cal State L.A., Claine Plummer returns for his fourth season as the Goalkeepers Coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Plummer helped the Cal State L.A. men’s team win NCAA Division II West Region and California Collegiate Athletic Association titles and the women’s team reach the NCAA West Region championship match in 2011.

Plummer joined the Cal State L.A. coaching staff in 2009 and helped the Golden Eagles post records of 18-4-1 for the men’s team and 17-3-2 on the women’s team in his first year with the program. The Golden Eagles women’s team was 15-4-1 overall and won a second straight CCAA title in 2010, while the men’s team had a 9-7-1 overall record.

In his three years with the programs, Cal State L.A. has a 42-13-8 record in men’s soccer and a 45-11-7 mark in women’s soccer.

Plummer was a goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles from 1994-97. He earned first-team All-CCAA honors in 1994 and is No. 2 on Cal State L.A.’s all-time career saves list with 248. His career goals against average of 1.50 per game is No. 6 all-time at Cal State L.A.

He was the women’s goalkeeper coach at UCLA from 2006-08 and he currently acts as a national goalkeeper instructor for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Plummer also coaches at Marshall Fundamental High School, where he guided the boys team to a CIF Southern Section Division V runner-up finish in 2006-07 and was the San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year. He is also the director and coach for the Soccer Plus Goalkeeper School, where he coaches players from the ages of 12-21 in the fundamentals of goalkeeping.

Plummer served as the goalkeeper coach at the Academy of Chivas USA for the U-20, U-18 and U-16 teams through 2011.

Plummer was also previously an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005-06 and he had previous coaching stints at Occidental College, San Francis High School, La Canada High School and with the La Canada Flyers Soccer Club.

He received his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies at Cal State L.A. and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in secondary education.  He also earned a single subject teaching credential at Cal State L.A. in 2004.
