Biography

2024: Had a strong second season with Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Was one of five runners to compete in all six races. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 26:21.6 while finishing 50th at the CCAA Championships. Finished 131st at the NCAA West Regional with a time of 34:37.25 over 10,000 meters. Was the team’s No. 1 runner at the NCAA West Regional and No. 2 runner at the CCAA Championships. Also ran for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2025). Had best times of 4:17.73 in the 1,500 and 9:31.03 in the 3,000.

2023: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Ran in five of the team’s six meets. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 26:51.2 while finishing 190th at the UCR Highlander Classic on Oct. 14. Finished 64th at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with an 8,000-meter time of 27:34.3 and 143rd at the NCAA West Regionals with a 10,000-meter time of 35:37.6 over a 10,000-meter course. Was the team’s No. 2 runner at the CCAA Championships and the NCAA West Regionals. Also competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2024). Had best times of 1:58.10 in the 800 meters and 4:05.66 in the 1,500. Finished 14th in the 800 and 14th in the 1,500 at the CCAA Championships. Earned 2023-24 CCAA All-Academic honors

At Don Bosco Tech High School: Was a three-time Most Valuable Player for both cross country and track and field. Finished sixth in the CIF Division IV finals in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 1:58.96. Won Del Rey League championships in the 800 and 1,600. Finished third in the league in cross country and 19th in the CIF Division IV finals. Went to CIF prelims for track three times in a row and in cross country two times in a row.

Personal: Son of Pedro and Luisa Perez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys watching movies and hiking. Lists making it to the finals in his last seasons for both cross country and track and field in high school and meeting new friends that push him to become better as his most exciting experiences in sports.
