Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Competed in one race and finished 67^th in the Seawolf Invitational with a time of 25:46.08 over four miles. Also competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2025). Had best times of 2:00.90 in the 800 meters and 4:29.63 in the 1,500 in outdoor track and 1:29.07 in the 600 and 2:20.55 in the 800 in indoor track. Finished 17^th in the 800 at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 2:01.98. Earned 2024-25 CCAA All-Academic honors, 2024 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition and 2025 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2023: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Ran in three races. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 30:18.4 at the UC Riverside Highlander Classic on Oct. 14. Finished 79^th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 31:26.7 over 8,000 meters. Also competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2024). Had best marks of 1:58.32 in the 800 and 4:37.97 in the 1,500. Finished 15^th in the 800 at the CCAA Championships.

2022: Competed well for Cal State LA’s cross country team in his first year with the program. Was one of only two runners to compete in all seven races for the Golden Eagles. Finished 74^th in the CCAA with a time of 30:30.4 over an 8,000-meter course. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 28:33.7 at the John Elder Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 21. Competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2023). Had best times of 2:01.94 in the 800 meters and 4:32.42 in the 1,500.

At Alhambra High School: Was a two-time league champion in the 800 meters in track and was a team MVP as a senior. Competed in both cross country and track and field.

Personal: Son of Walter and Thelma Lovato. Majoring in business. Enjoys playing guitar, photography an bicycling. Lists winning the 800 meters at league finals in high school as his most exciting experiences in sports.
