LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's
Corey Cofield II has been named to the 2024-25 NCAA DII Conference Commissioner's Association's All-West Region team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Cofield II earned second-team honors in voting by the region's sports information directors. He led the Golden Eagles to a second straight California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament appearance in his second year with the program. He was also instrumental in Cal State LA's first-ever CCAA Tournament championship in his first year in 2024.
Cofield II led the team and was second in the CCAA in scoring with 19.7 points per game. He also led the team and was seventh in the CCAA in rebounding with 6.9 per game.Â
He was also at his best in the team's biggest win of the season, a come-from-behind 68-65 win over Cal State East Bay. Cofield II had 26 of his career-high 30 points in the second half as Cal State LA roared back from a 17-point second-half deficit to clinch the sixth and final spot in the CCAA Tournament in a must-win game.
Cofield II scored 20 or more points in seven straight games to end the season.
Jojo Murphy of Chico State was named the West Region Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by Jeremy Dent Smith of Cal State Dominguez Hills, Adrian McIntyre of Westmont, Cavin Holden of Central Washington and Zack Paulsen of Point Loma.
Cofield II was joined on the second team by Kyle Dickson of Northwest Nazarene, Luke Haupt of Point Loma, Casey Cappo of Biola and Evan Oliver of Cal State San Bernardino.
This is the fourth year the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association has sponsored the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball All-Region and All-American teams.

The Division II CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
Cofield II becomes the second straight Cal State LA men's basketball player to earn D2 CCA All-Region honors after
Eche Okeke earned second-team honors last season, becoming the first since Franklin Session earned second-team honors in 2011.
Shane Bell earned All-Region honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches last year. Those teams have not yet been announced for this season.
