LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team put in a good effort Wednesday night in an exhibition game against No. 22 UCLA.
The Golden Eagles trailed by 16 points at halftime and the Bruins pulled away for a 100-64 victory in front of 3,055 in Pauley Pavilion. Cal State LA had an effective showing from beyond the 3-point line, making 14-of-27 attempts from behind the arc. UCLA countered by shooting 64.5 percent from the field (40-of-62).
Jaden Lazo had a sensational game for the Golden Eagles, pouring in 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from 3-point range. Newcomer
Devin Ringer also had a strong game, scoring 14 points in 17 productive minutes.
Tyler Bilodeau matched Lazo's game high with 24 points for the Bruins, while Skyy Clark had 17 points.
Corey Cofield had eight points for the Golden Eagles, while
Shane Bell had seven points and six assists.
Cal State LA will open its regular season next Friday at home against Concordia.
