LOS ANGELES – After consultation with the California Collegiate Athletic Association Presidents/Chancellor Board, the CCAA on Thursday afternoon announced the suspension of all intercollegiate athletic activities until further notice, effective immediately.
The suspension of activities includes game competitions and practices, as well as in-person recruiting, both on and off campus, the conference announced in a statement.
For Cal State LA, this suspension also includes non-CCAA member sports, women's tennis and beach volleyball.
Shortly after the CCAA announcement, the NCAA sent an email to its member schools announcing the cancellation of all remaining winter and spring NCAA Championships.
The decision was based on the evolving COVID-19 public health situation and the NCAA's ability to ensure the events do not contribute to the spread of the pandemic. The NCAA also cited the impracticality of hosting the championships at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.
