LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's basketball completed its most successful weekend of the season with another big California Collegiate Athletic Association victory.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick first-quarter lead and went on to a 78-61 victory over Chico State Saturday night in University Gym. Cal State LA (10-12, 9-7 CCAA) jumped into a tie for fourth place in the conference with six conference games remaining. The Golden Eagles also avenged an early-season loss to Chico State (10-9, 8-7 CCAA).
The top eight teams will qualify for the CCAA Championship Tournament.
Rikke Fabricius led the way with a forceful 20-point, five-rebound performance. She led four Golden Eagles in double figures. 
Christine Delapina had an outstanding game with 17 points and five assists and 
Madison Adams and 
Alyssa Fisher had 12 points each.
It was a momentous night for Fabricius, who went over 1,000 points for her Cal State LA career.
Whitney Branham had 17 points to lead the Wildcats, who also got 13 points from McKena Barker and 11 points from Kayla Taylor.
Cal State LA shot 54.3 percent for the game (25-of-46) and was 5-of-16 from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles were also a tremendous 23-of-26 from the free-throw line. Chico State shot 43.4 percent for the game (23-of-53) and was 7-of-21 from 3-point range. The Wildcats were 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Cal State LA had a 30-21 rebounding edge and committed 12 turnovers to eight for the Wildcats.
The Golden Eagles got off to a good start and built a 40-30 lead by halftime. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter, 47-32, following a 3-pointer by Fisher and held a 57-46 lead entering the final period.
The talented Chico State team sliced the lead to six points, 59-53, following a 3-pointer by Barker, but 
Mackenzie Barnes answered with a 3-pointer to restore order. Cal State LA led by at least eight points the rest of the way and was successful at the free-throw line down the stretch to increase the final margin.
Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 3, at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
