SAN FRANCISCO -- Cal State LA's women's volleyball team ran into a red-hot Chico State team Friday night in the semifinals of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament.
The Golden Eagles, coming off a big win over North Division No. 1 seed Sonoma State in a first-round match on Thursday, fell in straight sets to the Wildcats, 25-18, 25-14, 25-16, in the Main Gym at San Francisco State on Friday. Cal State LA (15-12) was thwarted at every angle by Chico State (17-13), which was eager to avenge an early-season loss to the Golden Eagles in Chico.
The Wildcats hit at a sizzling .472 percentage and limited the Golden Eagles to just .043 hitting. Chico State had a 38-30 edge in kills and a 14-3 advantage in blocks. Cal State LA did not have a service ace and committed seven serving errors. Chico State had just one ace and eight serving errors.

Karla Santos had nine kills for the Golden Eagles, while
Alejandra Negron had eight kills.
Daisy Crenshaw had five kills and two blocks.
Kelley Jacome had 10 kills and four blocks to lead Chico State. Olivia Mediano had nine kills and four blocks.
Jeshmarie Suarez had a match-high 11 digs for the Golden Eagles.
Cal State LA saw a three-match winning streak come to an end, but the Golden Eagles were able to complete their 21st consecutive winning season.
