The Golden Eagles never led and allowed the first five points of the game. Cal State L.A. was able to dig itself out of a 12-7 deficit and eventually tied the game at 17-17 after an offensive rebound and basket by Powell and a pair of free throws by Paige Melville. UC San Diego, though, responded with a 13-1 run to take a 30-18 lead. The Tritons led by as many as 13 points before a pair of free throws by Belt made it 40-29 at halftime.

UC San Diego then scored the first five points of the second half and successfully kept the Golden Eagles at bay the rest of the way. Cal State L.A. was unable to get the deficit to single deficits the rest of the way.

Cal State L.A. will return home and host Cal State East Bay next Friday, Jan. 31, at 5:30 p.m.
