A layup by Okungbowa and baskets by Melville and Okungbowa stretched the lead to 32-19. Two free throws by Powell late in the half gave the Golden Eagles their biggest lead of the game, 36-22, and Cal State L.A. settled for a 36-24 halftime lead.

Cal State San Bernardino made several runs in the second half, but Cal State L.A. answered each one. The Coyotes got as close as three points, 45-42, but Melville and Tina Fantroy hit baskets to stretch the lead to 49-42.
