Cal State L.A. battled back and made a game of it in the second half, slicing the deficit to a manageable 13 points, 67-54, with 12:30 to go. UC San Diego, though, scored the next eight points to stretch the lead to 21 and never looked back.

UC San Diego (8-0, 2-0 CCAA) extended its winning streak over Cal State L.A. to 12 straight games.

Lacy Ramon was perfect from the field and had a team-high 17 points, but she was limited by foul trouble and played just 24 minutes. UC San Diego maintained its large lead in the opening stages of the second half, but Cal State L.A. fought back. A pair of 3-pointers by Ramon, a layup by Jenkins and a free throw by Hanson made it 67-54 with 12:30 remaining, but UC San Diego answered with an 8-0 run and led comfortably the rest of the way.
