No. 16 Golden Eagles Wrap Up First South Division Title

HAYWARD -- Cal State L.A.'s  women's soccer team wrapped up its most successful regular season ever with another California Collegiate Athletic Association victory.

The Golden Eagles blanked Cal State East Bay, 2-0, Sunday in Hayward and put the finishing touches on its first-ever CCAA South Division title. Cal State L.A. (15-2-2, 12-2-2) earned the No. 1 seed in the  four-team CCAA Championship Tournament that will begin next Friday at Cal State Stanislaus. The Golden Eagles finished the conference schedule with a CCAA-best 38 points.

The Golden Eagles will face North Division champion and No. 4 seed Chico State in a first-round match set to begin at 1:30 p.m..

Cal State L.A. has already set a new program record for most wins in a season with 15.

The Golden Eagles are unbeaten in their last 10 games and are 8-0-2 over that stretch.

Cal State L.A. completed the regular season the win on Sunday. The Golden Eagles had a 24-8 advantage in shots and scored one goal in each half.

Ann Marie Tangorra scored her 10th goal of the season in the 25th minute to give Cal State L.A. a 1-0 lead. She boomed a shot from about 20 yards out for the score.

Gabbi Segall notched her fifth goal of the season in the 51st minute to complete the scoring. She shot from about 15 yards out and found the back of the net.

#Jessie Walworth# made four saves to record the shutout.

Kastidi Robles had a match-high five shots, including four on goal. Jasmin Stuemper had four shots.

Cal State L.A., ranked 16th in the nation, is also rated third in the NCAA Division II West Region.
