LOS ANGELES – The 14th-ranked Chico State volleyball team added another piece of history to its history-making season Saturday with a three-game sweep at 15th-ranked Cal State L.A. The 30-28, 30-18, 30-25 win was Chico State's first ever at the Eagles Nest.
The 12-1 Wildcats improved upon the best start in the program's history while taking sole possession of second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Chico State, 7-1 in the CCAA, trails first-place Cal State San Bernardino by one game, and leads Cal State L.A. (10-3, 6-2 CCAA) by one game.
Senior Jamie Houle dominated the match for the Wildcats. She hit a match-high .519 while registering 16 kills and just two hitting errors. Houle also added a pair apiece, while setter Erica Brick dished out 43 assists. Lacy Stringfellow notched 13 digs to lead the Wildcats and Macias recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs.
The Wildcats will attempt to improve on their eight-match winning streak when they host Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday at 7 p.m. Cal State Monterey Bay will be in town for a 7 p.m. match Friday.
