Golden Eagles Soccer Team Shutout by UC San Diego Women

Complete Box Score

LOS ANGELES – The Golden Eagle women's soccer team recorded six saves, but still fell to UC San Diego on Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Track, 4-0. Cal State L.A. falls to 6-3-1 overall, and 4-2-1 in the CCAA. UC San Diego improves to 8-1-1, 5-1-1.

The Golden Eagles held the Tritons scoreless as Vanessa Suarez, making the start for Cal State L.A., refused to allow any of the Tritons' three shots on goal get past her. The teams would head into halftime scoreless.

UC San Diego took the lead early in the second half, putting the ball into the Golden Eagles' net at the 46:37 mark. The Tritons would go on to score three more times in the half. Despite four saves from Suarez and two team saves, the Golden Eagles were unable to stop the 10-shot barrage they faced from the Triton offense.

The Golden Eagles return to action next weekend as, on Friday, September 29, they head up the coast to take on San Francisco State at 3 pm. On Sunday, October 1, the team heads into action against CSU Monterey Bay in a 12:30 pm match.
