Golden Eagles Women Fall to Chico State, 1-0

LOS ANGELES – The Cal State L.A. women's soccer team outshot the Chico State Wildcats, but were unable to cash in, as the Golden Eagles fell, 1-0. The Golden Eagles remain winless in October, having gone 0-3-1 for the month. With today's loss, their overall record drops to 7-6-2, and their CCAA Conference record now stands at 5-5-2.

Both the Golden Eagles and Wildcats played an evenly aggressive game. In the first half, each team recorded three unsuccessful shots, as they headed into halftime with a scoreless tie.

Of the 11 shots taken in the second half, seven were taken by the Golden Eagles. Despite several close calls, the game remained scoreless until Chico State was able to get the ball past Golden Eagle goalkeeper Reyna Coca at 80:34. Cal State L.A. was unable to make a comeback, as they dropped their third straight, 1-0.

Up next for the Golden Eagles is a two game road trip next weekend. Their first game is on Friday, October 13, against UC San Diego in La Jolla at 7 p.m. Their final regular season road game will be on Sunday, October 15, as Cal State L.A. heads to Carson to take on Cal State Dominguez Hills at 5:30 p.m.

The Golden Eagles return home for their final homestand of 2006 on Friday, October 20, as Cal Poly Pomona comes to town for a 7 p.m. match. The regular season concludes on Sunday, October 20, when Cal State San Bernardino heads into Jesse Owens Track for a 3 p.m. showdown.
