Golden Eagle Soccer Swept by Tritons

LOS ANGELES – Patrick Fry made five saves in goal for the Cal State L.A. men's soccer team in their loss to UC San Diego in overtime, 1-0. With that, the team falls to 8-7-1 overall, and 7-6 in the CCAA. UC San Diego improves to 7-7-2, 5-6-2.

The Golden Eagles outshot their opponents, 18-14, including 11 shots on goal, but were unable to successfully cash in on any of those chances. Ultimately, the game would go just under a minute into the second overtime period before UC San Diego was able to fire one of their six shots on goal past Fry to give the Tritons the 1-0 victory.

On the women's side, the Golden Eagles were outplayed by the Tritons in a 4-0 loss. Cal State L.A. falls to 7-7-2 overall, 5-6-2 in the CCAA. The Tritons improve to 13-1-2, 10-1-2.

Cal State L.A. was limited to just three shots for the match, giving up 21 to UC San Diego. In goal, Reyna Coca made six saves, but allowed four goals as the Tritons went on to defeat the Golden Eagles, 4-0.

The Golden Eagles' road trip continues on Sunday afternoon as both teams head to Carson to take on cross-town rival Cal State Dominguez Hills in a doubleheader. The men start at 3 p.m. with the women set to go at 5:30.
