PARK, Calif. - Cal State L.A. hung a shutout on the Western Washington University men's soccer team Monday at the Sonoma State University Seawolf Classic. The Golden Eagles prevented the Vikings from scoring for the third time in five games this season and left Rohnert Park with a 2-0 win.
The Vikings, who have scored just two goals this season, fell to 0-5-0.
Cal State L.A., which improved to 1-1-1, opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Morten Marthinsen stole a clearance attempt and rocketed in a shot from 20 yards. Jilmer Morales scored the Golden Eagles' other goal in the 64th minute, Martin Sandoval getting the assist.
Cal State L.A. had a 16-9 shot advantage, 8-3 in the first half. The Vikings led 6-2 in corner kicks.
