Cal State L.A. Men Fall to Seawolves, 1-0

LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A. goalie Patrick Fry made seven saves, but the Golden Eagles fell to the Sonoma State Seawolves on Sunday in Rohnert Park, 1-0. Cal State L.A. falls to 1-3-1 overall, and 0-2-0 in the CCAA, Sonoma State is now 3-3-0, 2-0-0 CCAA.

In the first half, the Golden Eagles won five corner kicks, to the Seawolves' one. Fry turned away all three of the Sonoma State shots on goal, however, his Seawolf counterpart across the pitch was able to do the same, ending the second half in a scoreless tie.

Early in the second half, Sonoma State scored the game's lone goal. Brett Cook headed the ball just past Fry, as the goal was scored off of a corner. Fry would go on to deny the Seawolves four times in the half, bringing his save total to seven for the game. However, that goal was all Sonoma State needed, as the Golden Eagles would go on to fall, 1-0.

The Golden Eagles return home on Wednesday, September 13 to take on Cal State Bakersfield in a doubleheader. The men's game is set to start at 4:30 pm, with the women taking the field at 7. Cal State L.A. students are admitted to the match free with their valid I.D.
