A talented thrower for Long Beach State, Charles Vernoy-Ging joins the Cal State LA track and field coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Vernoy-Ging is in his first year of coaching after a successful throwing career for The Beach. He was a two-time Big West Conference champion in the discus and qualified for postseason competition in the discus, hammer throw and weight throw. In his last season of outdoor competition in 2022, Vernoy-Ging won the Big West Conference title in the discus, finished second in the conference in the shot put and took third in the hammer throw to help Long Beach State finish second as a team.
He finished his Long Beach State career ranked sixth in the discus with a mark of 192-9 and ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 209-5 in Long Beach State’s all-time top-10.
He earned second-team All-America status in the weight throw after finishing 13th at the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championships. He finished his career ranked eighth in the weight throw in Long Beach State’s all-time top-10 with a mark of 71-11.50.
Vernoy-Ging graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from Long Beach State and will complete his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Development this spring.
