SAN BERNARDINO -- Juniors Sharea Drawn and Katie Hatch-Kinser and sophomore Jessica Granados combined for 36 kills Friday night to lift unbeaten Cal State San Bernardino to a 3-0 sweep of defending NCAA Pacific Region champion Cal State L.A. before over 400 fans in Coussoulis Arena.
The victory improved the Coyotes -- ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Region and No. 7 in the nation -- to 14-0 overall and 9-0 in the CCAA with Cal State Bakersfield coming in for a match on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The 14 straight wins to open the season is the third longest win streak in team history.
The loss dropped the Golden Eagles, ranked No. 7 in the region and No. 16 in the nation, to 11-4 on the season and 7-3 in the CCAA.

The Coyotes hit .250 as a team to just .080 for the Golden Eagles who made 27 attack errors, partly because CSUSB did such solid work at the net with 25 blocks, five of them solo. Senior Lisa Dogonyaro had eight kills, a match-high 16 digs and four block assists.

The Coyotes improved their CCAA record in Coussoulis Arena since the start of the 2000 season to 63-4 but had to rally from an early deficit in game one to get started on the right path.
CSUSB trailed 13-6 but reeled off nine straight points off the serve of junior L indsey Olhausen to take a 15-13 lead. L.A. remained in the hunt at 19-18 but the Coyotes strung five points together capped by a kill by Granados to make it 24-19. Olhausen's kill closed out the game at 30-25.
In game two, the teams were tied at 14-all when CSUSB went on a six-point run off Meghan Haas serve to lead 20-14 on another kill by Granados. CSULA rallied to get within four at 28-24 but the Coyotes ended the game on a kill by Drawn and a block of L.A.'s all-CCAA hitter Luana Cavalcanti by Olhausen and Drawn.
The Coyotes managed a 22-19 lead in game three but with their backs to the wall, the Golden Eagles outscored the Coyotes 7-1 to take a 26-23 lead on a kill by Tanya White.
CSUSB quickly tied the match at 26-all when Dogonyaro and Rice blocked an attack by White.
Leading 28-27, the Coyotes sealed the deal on a kill by Dogonyaro followed Rice's solo block on Keslie Brown at match point.
Cavalcanti came into the match No. 2 in the conference in kills at 4.05 a game but had a tough time with the CSUSB defense which limited her to seven kills in 36 attacks with 11 errors for a minus .111 hitting.
The Golden Eagles are off until next Friday night (Oct. 6) when the team visits cross-town rival Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson for a 7:00 p.m. match. On Saturday, CSULA drives down I-5 to UCSD for another 7:00 p.m. contest.
