A pass-catching force for Cal State L.A. in the late 1950s, Anderson was affectionately nicknamed, “Andy.”
Anderson was a two-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association end, catching 61 passes for 1,104 yards at Cal State L.A. He was the team Most Valuable Player and captain in 1957.
He was drafted by the National Football League’s Chicago Bears in 1958. In his brief professional career, he caught 55 passes for 791 yards (14.4 avg.) with six touchdowns.
