Mark Massey served as the head women’s volleyball coach at Cal State L.A. for seven seasons, guiding the Golden Eagles from 1989-95.
During his tenure, Massey was able to turn the Cal State L.A. women’s volleyball program into a consistent winner. After going 5-19 in his first season, Massey quickly got the Golden Eagles headed in the right director and led Cal State L.A. to a 25-10 record just three years later in 1992. The program earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth that season and advanced to the NCAA Final Four.
Massey compiled a 120-86 overall record in his seven seasons with the program.
His 1992-95 squads combined for a 91-29 record, good for a .758 winning percentage and four consecutive NCAA playoff appearances. His teams also recorded four consecutive second-place finishes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
