One of the top players in Cal State L.A. women’s basketball history, Lupe Quintana-Whiteman earned her induction into the Cal State L.A. Hall of Fame as much for her work ethic as for her natural playing ability. She made her reputation on the court as a tenacious defender and rebounder, a reputation verified by her numerous mentions in the Cal State L.A. record book.

Quintana-Whiteman earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors in each of her four years with the program from 1986-89. She still holds the program’s career rebounding record with 1,200. That total is more than 350 rebounds better than her nearest pursuer. She also ranks in the top-five in points (1,321), blocked shots (107) and steals (183).

Those records earned Quintana-Whitman numerous awards, including the Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.’s top female student-athlete in 1989.

She graduated from Cal State L.A. in 1990 with a degree in biology.
