Although he played just the 1968 football season at Cal State L.A., John Erdhaus ranks as one of the best quarterbacks to ever don a Cal State L.A. uniform.
The co-captain and Most Valuable Player of the 1968 football squad, Erdhaus set the Cal State L.A. single-season records for passes completed (159), attempted (303), touchdown passes (28) and total offense (2,680 yards) en route to earning first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. At the time, those passing marks also stood as Cal State L.A. career records.
Under his leadership, the 1968 Cal State L.A. football squad averaged a school-record 413.3 yards and 37.2 points per game and compiled a 6-3 record.
