Jennifer Uyeda was a four-year letterwinner in women’s tennis from 1986-90. During her senior season, she won the NCAA Division II double championships with partner Edna Oliverez-Nguyen, who was inducted into the Cal State L.A. Hall of Fame in 1996). Uyeda also earned All-America honors with a No. 6 singles ranking.

An All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first-team selection, Uyeda also excelled academically. She earned NCAA Academic All-America honors after posting a 3.47 grade point average in criminal justice. She was named the CCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1991 and was a Golden Key National Honor Society member. A national Dean’s List honoree, her overall collegiate GPA was 3.503.

After earning her degree at Cal State L.A., Uyeda graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy. In 1993, she was awarded the Medal of Valor and earned an L.A. City Council commendation. Additionally, she was a six-time California Police Summer Games gold medalist and worked with the Torrance Police Department at the time of her induction.
