Jackie Hoyt served as director of Women’s and Co-Ed Athletics at Cal State L.A. and helped start competitive intercollegiate women’s athletics at a time when no such program existed.
She helped form the Southern California Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and she also provided leadership for the Extramural Coordinating Council of Southern California Colleges.
She was also a professor of physical education at Cal State L.A.
In her role as director of Women’s and Co-Ed Athletics at Cal State L.A, Hoyt initiated and helped develop co-ed programs in archery, badminton, bowling and fencing and women’s programs in basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, swimming/diving, track and field and volleyball.
