Bob Laemmle played for two seasons for Cal State L.A. and earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors in 1957 and 1958.
He led the 1956-57 squad in scoring with 15.2 points per game and led the 1957-58 team in rebounding with 10.7 rebounds per game. The 1956-57 team was one of the best in school history. Cal State L.A. was 20-12 overall and posted one of only three 20-win seasons in the program’s history.
Laemmle led Cal State L.A. to a fourth-place national finish in 1957 with playoff wins over Nevada, Linfield and San Diego State before a loss to Wheaton in the Final Four. That marked the first NCAA playoff appearance for Cal State L.A.
