Bill Mallory was a three-year letterwinner for Cal State L.A. from 1972-75 as a member of the men’s basketball program. He was honored as Cal State L.A.’s male Athlete of the Year in 1975.
He played in all 78 games played by Cal State L.A. from 1972-75 and finished his career in the top-10 in points (1,230) and rebounding (767). He still remains in the top-10 in both categories and his career field-goal percentage (.536) and free-throw percentage (.745) are among the best in program history.
He led the team in scoring 18 different times in his career and was the team’s leading rebounder 27 times. He earned All-Conference honors twice in 1973 and 1974 and he earned three weekly conference awards during his career.
In 1974, Mallory was a member of Cal State L.A.’s NCAA playoff team.
After his collegiate career, Mallory played six years of professional basketball in Holland and was a three-time European Most Valuable Player. He is currently a college basketball official in California.
