NORTHRIDGE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team battled against a pair of NCAA Division I teams Thursday at the Matador Beach Volleyball Facility at Cal State Northridge.
The Golden Eagles fell to Cal State Bakersfield, 5-0, in their first match and then also fell, 5-0, to host Cal State Northridge.
Cynthia Giron and
Daisia LaBrie competed well in a pair of matches at No. 4 doubles, putting up a great battle in the second set of a 21-12, 21-19 loss to Emily Lopes and Kayla Tinker of Cal State Bakersfield and starting off well in a 21-18, 21-12 loss to Aeryn Owens and Erin Indermill of Cal State Northridge.
Kelsey Molnar and
Taylor Kushner nearly forced a third set in their match at No. 2 doubles against Cal State Northridge's Maddie Leiphardt and Nicki Williams in a 21-13, 21-19 loss and
JamieAnn Bero and
Nicole Efseaff had a hard-fought 21-13, 21-16 loss to Sarah Garrow and Ashley Prater of Cal State Bakersfield at No. 3 doubles.
Iona Lofrano and
Lauren Gomez had a pair of hard-fought matches at No. 1 doubles and
Yamani Wallace and
Sifa Faaiu competed well for the Golden Eagles at No. 5 doubles.
Cal State LA will play a pair of matches next Tuesday against Concordia-Irvine and Loyola Marymount in Irvine.
